New footage shows Omar al-Bayoumi hugging Anwar al-Awlaki and playing paintball in San Diego. Bayoumi is the focus of a lawsuit filed by the families of 9/11 victims, while he has denied involvement in the attacks.

9/11 lawsuit allegations

The lawsuit filed by the families of 9/11 victims is stated to be for £733,000,000,000.

The lawsuit against Bayoumi alleges that Saudi Arabia’s government assisted the hijackers and that Bayoumi was part of the planning for America’s deadliest terror attack.

Bayoumi has continuously denied his involvement in the attacks. He has also denied being an extremist and a spy for Saudi Arabia.

Arrest in September 2001

When officers from the Metropolitan Police’s Anti-Terror Branch arrested Bayoumi at his home in September 2001, they found names of dozens of Saudi government officials in the United States and Saudi Arabia.

They also found flight simulator software, tickets, and a notebook with a sketch of a plane and mathematical calculations about plane height.

Bayoumi’s links to San Diego

Bayoumi helped two of the 9/11 hijackers find apartments and settle in San Diego after they arrived in America in 2000.

He worked as an accountant for a Saudi aviation company before the September 11 attacks and later moved to Birmingham.

The footage shows Bayoumi hugging Anwar al-Awlaki, who would go on to lead al-Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula.

The FBI found that some paintball participants were taking part in the activity to train for jihad.

Commission report

The final 9/11 Commission report stated: “We have seen no credible evidence that he believed in violent extremism, or knowingly aided extremist groups.”
