Donald Trump asks Texas convention crowd to repeat pledge and says non-voters ‘go to hell’

Donald Trump asked a Republican convention crowd in Texas to repeat a pledge, said non-voters would go to hell and faced scrutiny over conflicting accounts of his whereabouts during the September 11 attacks.

Donald Trump asked attendees at the Republican Party midterm convention in Texas this week to raise their right hands and repeat a pledge after him, Metro News reported.

Those at the convention raised their palms, cheered Mr Trump’s remarks and appeared to beam behind him, according to the report.

Mr Trump said: “I pledge to the greatest president in the history of the United States that loves us so much he can’t even breathe, that I will go out with my family, my friends. I’ll do it anyway– I don’t care if I’m registered or not. I’m going to try and cheat like hell, as they do,” while referring to the Democrat party.

He also said: “So we swear that on November 3rd we are going to go out and vote,” adding that attendees could vote Democrat, although he did not think anyone in the room would do so.

Mr Trump told the crowd that people who did not vote would go to hell, saying he did not want that to happen to them.

Conflicting accounts of September 11 attacks

Mr Trump came under fire this week after discussing his presence during the September 11 attacks and claiming that firefighters pulled him to safety, Metro News reported.

He told reporters that he had been inside the United States Steel Building during the attack and had been evacuated.

Metro News reported that Mr Trump had given conflicting accounts of where he was during the attacks. In August, he told Fox News that he watched the attacks from his apartment in Midtown, four miles from the towers.

At a 2016 campaign rally, Mr Trump said he watched people jump and saw the second plane hit the World Trade Center from his apartment.
